This study presents a computer program (PSWTPD) designed in programming language (Visual Basic 6 ).The capability of the software is to design wastewater treatment plant with a capacity ranging from (15000 to 945000) m3/ day with period of expansion for 60 years and to assess the effect of flow rate variations on the design.
The simulated program (PSWTPD) for the treatment process was developed using (16) mathematical models.
Using two systems for wasted sludge the first System (1) is to treat wasted sludge from the aeration basin, while System (2) is to treat wasted The mathematical models were developed by many researchers previously .The modules are: flow characteristic, population estimation and flow rate , main sewer and Screening, pumping, flow measurement, grit removal, primary sedimentation, aeration basin, secondary clarifier ,sludge thickener, sludge stabilization ,sludge conditioning , sludge dewatering, disinfection ,effluent disposal and hydraulic Profile for system (1) and system (2).
The PSWTPD is a software which can be installed on any system of windows (98, NT, 2000, Me, XP and Vista) like any software .The security system has already been included in the program, as well as the interface to the other programs included like Microsoft office (Excel, Excess and PowerPoint) for educational and demonstrational purpose.
The program produces a detailed output showing the design geometry, flow rate and mass balance analysis, composition of each stream in and out of each module as well as the sludge quantity and the hydraulic profile for each module.
The mathematical modules were used as original references for the operation of the program with high accuracy, then the verifications of the program was checked by assuming random flow rate and fixed the flow characteristic (TSS,BOD5 ,COD, total phosphorus, total nitrogen ,and pH),which also gives a high accuracy of the results within the allowable recommended values.
The comparison of the results shows that the flow rate is the major factor affecting the design.
The software (program) or (PSWTPD) is flexible and easy to be used by practiced engineer, also it is accurate in producing the results, in
addition, new techniques are included in the program to get the result in the optimum time, and finally it will help the students, engineer and researchers in their work on wastewater treatment.
