According to the connection type with the gear box, there are two kinds of typical structure, one is with independent support, the other is combined with gear box. Today’s example: calculate total dynamic head (TDH) pressure.
Today’s problem reads:
The pump operates with 3 inches of mercury on the suction side of the pump, at 57.75 feet of head on the discharge side of the pump. Calculate the total dynamic head (TDH) pressure feet. This solution requires the following formula. TDH pressure feet equals inches of mercury times the conversion factor from inches of mercury to feet of suction lift, plus the discharge head feet, plus the friction loss feet.
The formula is going to be entered into Excel’s spreadsheet to solve all this. You can actually put your cursor in C1 in a blank spreadsheet and type “Calculate TDH Pressure Feet”. In A1, you can format the cell as numbers with two decimal points, instead of just bold and centered. You can type in this formula: =2(3)*(1.133))+(57.75)+(0) and then press enter. In the answer, in A1, is your answer 61.15 TDH pressure feet.
