Yes, my betta is gone. I was out of town for a few days and he disappeared from the tank. It took me over 10 minutes to find him behind the desk. I thought the duckweed barrier would be enough, but turned out it wasn’t. He became a betta jerky. So sad. :_( R.I.P.
That’s why I have a lid, now. I might get another betta, but, not sure yet, since the shrimp are much happier and they’ve been breeding non stop.
Not all of the livestock are shown in the video. Most of them are hiding.
This has been the most low maintenance tank ever. I’ve never cleaned the tank the entire time. Only water changes here and there. However it did require lots of trimming and throwing away the duckweed when they’d multiplied too much. And there’s still almost NO algae.

dig a shallow well.Part two of well digging saga. Got the hole cleared of all the mud that got washed back in from the storms we had. Used a trash pump that I rented in bossier city and that made it possible to go all the way to 16 feet. That gives me 8 feet of useable water. Got the casing in,filled the gap between the 8 inch pipe and 4 inch casing with pea gravel and filled the remainder with the mud I pulled out with the auger. Installed my pump and drop pipe and pumped water till my arm hurt. Tomorrow I’ll get some bags of concrete and make a nice apron at the base of the pump casing and pour a column around it up to the base of the pump with some bolts set into the concrete to hold the pump down tight. “hand dug well” “how to dig a well” “shallow well”
